Dead T40?

#1 Post by clickpoint » Mon Oct 15, 2007 11:29 am

Just got ThinkPad T40 2373-96U

Tried battery / ac --- no lights, no beeps, NADA

Tried to apply pressure to GPU chip, no success :(

Is this a goner? Will trying to reflow the GPU do anything, if pressure does not make any changes?

Sounds dead to me. Motherboard replacement would probably fix it.

Try a different keyboard if you can. The switch sometimes breaks. Also, a bad power jack and a completely drained battery will look like that. I don't think a bad graphics chip/MB connection will eliminate the charging light.
