Yet another T4x Recovery CD thread

I've been trying to make Recovery CDs for my T41, but I haven't been able to find the option to yet. The closest I got was running reccd after installing Rescue and Recovery. But when I run it, after the main window of the program appears it says it is Unable to find files for the Recovery CDs.

After reading a few threads, it's apparent that the Recovery CDs ordered from Lenovo contain 99% of the files that are in the HPA partitions. But burning the files (including the Boot Image) seems to be insufficient as the boot CD says it cannot locate the correct media (when invoking FINDCD.EXE ).

I have a few questions relating to the Recovery CDs then (and I'm not sure if they are even allowed - sorry if they're not):
1) What is the volume name of the first and second CDs?
2) What is the file listing or DIR /S output of the first CD?

I'm also interested in hearing other methods of making a set of Recovery CDs (the FWBACKUP method takes too long though, even with SmartDrive).

I don't think the option to create recovery CD's exists on a T41. The option does not exist on my T41. I got recovery CD's from IBM at the time of laptop purchase and they have served me well. The T41 recovery CD's are not integrated with R&R which I do not use, and so do not want the integration. Unless you plan to dump your T41 soon (mine is working great and will go even past the time I upgrade to a Vista laptop), then purchase of the recovery CD's is a viable option. ... JDH

Well, even one of Lenovo's own pages for the T41/p states that T41 users can make Recovery CDs using Rescue and Recovery.

Since owners of other thinkpad models have the ability to make the disks, you would think that the option was there for the T41 was as well.
