15” R40 or R50 series SXGA+ compatible in T43?

#1 Post by SteveS » Fri Oct 19, 2007 8:07 pm

I have a T43 with a damaged 15” XGA display. I would like to drop a SXGA+ in it. I see a few pulled from R40 series ThinkPads on e-bay, and an occasional R51. Does anyone know if the LCDs are compatiible? Also, will the entire top half fit directly (just swapping the clear plate), or do I need to open it and actually swap the LCD panel?

An R series lid would not be compatible with a T43. If you are going for a complete lid/LCD assembly, you'd have to go for a T series, T40, T41, T42. T43. The other option is to get a 15" sxga+ LCD, an sxga+ inverter, and a sxga+ 15" LCD cable.

The panel itself is the same in the R5x and the T4x. The cable, lid and inverter are not.
