Issue with new hard drive onto T41

I’m interested in trying out Linux and thinking about installing a new non-ibm issue hard drive, but before I buy a hard drive, would like to know why kind of issue I’ll be encounter when installing it. Any input will be appreciated.

You will have no problems installing an ATA-6 IDE 2.5" hard drive on an T41. Any of these will work -

ATA-6 Drives on Newegg.com

will a ATA-5 work ? Toshiba MK6022GAX

So basically all I have to do is install and shouldn’t give me error of “2010” as in T43 thread I’ve read.. or it’s only affect the T42 and T43.. Thanks for the help, I’ll update my result when I install once received item from ebay

The 2010 error only shows up on T43'a and R52's.

Thank Harry..

I install the hd and load Ubuntu.. no problem whatsoever..
I also want to change the hd on a Z61t... any advice on this model ?

They take SATA drives not IDE , and again the 2010 error only shows up on T43'a and R52's.
