I'm thinking of purchasing a used T42p. What does the P mean?

Thanks.

p = Performance.

It means better video controller chip, sometimes faster processor, sometimes better LCD panel, sometimes MUCH better LCD panel.
Machine-Project: 750P, 600X, T42, T60, T400, X1 Carbon Touch

The ThinkPad "p"-models are, I believe, intended as workstations, and represent the high-end of any ThinkPad line; these are simply the best of the best! :-) See the thread T4X specs, see the post of Sun Jan 28, 2007 1:35 pm which will pont you to the ltwbook, however: "Personal Systems Reference, Lenovo ThinkPad Notebooks, 2005 to present - withdrawn (December 2006 - Version 316)" at ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinstitu ... twbook.pdf ... containing specs on the latest T4x/p-models, incl. T41/p's, T42/p's, and T43/p's. See for yourself the different components used in the various machines.

Google may probably also be come up with some business-oriented material describing the target audience for e.g. the "p"-models... if you search a little! :wink:

Johan
