Bench-testing the 9-cell and ultrabay slim batteries!
Ok, so I got home early (4pm), booted up, sans-AC, and we're going to see how long I can work tonight before the machine powers off.
I'm running at full-brightness, full-everything, wifi, networking, you name it, it's on.
So far, I've burned 40% of my Whr's in 1hr 36 minutes! That's not so promising!
Stay tuned! Film at 11 (or sooner if the battery doesn't last, LOL)

Whoa! Not such good news!
My 99.96 Whr of juice lasted only 3h 45m !!! Now, mind you, I was HAMMERING on the thing just like I would on AC power, with constant HD accesses, WiFi cranking along, full screen brightness. It also hibernated with 10% juice left (I need to kick that down to 3-5%).
From this I conclude:
1) I need to throttle back on some settings if I want better battery life!
2) The Flexview SUCKS JUICE like there's NO TOMORROW!
3) Buying the Ultrabay Slim wasn't just a GOOD IDEA, it's practically a REQUIREMENT.
I'm not unhappy, just a bit suprised, thought I'd do better ... and again, am very happy I got that Ultrabay battery. Might need to snag another one on ebay, LOL!

Yes, the Ultraview really kicks the snot out of your battery life. I was thrilled to get my 14.1" display. The edu sales rep I talked was like why don't you get the 15" since you do graphics/bioinformatics stuff and I was like "NO", that thing makes for a heavy as hell notebook and kills battery life. Anyone looking for good batt life should not get a 15" or a flexview.

I have the 9-cell extended as well and it has been and still is serving me very well.
Even after I watch a movie in throttled down mode I still have about 45% battery life left.
Surfing the net in general lasts forever, about 6hrs. This is with screen brightness set to two notches above the lowest setting.

Thanks guys. Agree with all comments thus far. So if I want to play with settings to extend battery life, what are the biggest power hogs, in order from most to least? (i.e. things I can change)
- Screen brightness
- CPU (how is that controlled? I thought it was automatic)
???
TIA,

Mine have only 4 cycles and I only have 88WH total. However - at medium brightness reading documents in Acrobat & Word - I can cruise at 9-10W and get 8-9 hours from the 2 batteries.
