T43P stuck

#1 Post by chotta » Sun Nov 04, 2007 12:52 am

I need some serious help here.

When I turn the power on, after the IBM screen and the "checking the status of the security chip" my system starts slowing down and then basically nothing happsns. It does not freeze, I am able to move the cursor but it just does not go any further. Some times the "starting windows" screen comes as well but then nothing happens, the fan keeps on running.

This morning the "windows starting up" window stayed for 4 hours with out any further boot up. Again it was not frozen but just does not want to start up windows.

IBM support is asking me to restore to factory settings and I dont want to do that. I have a lot of stuff on my machine.

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated??

I would run PC Doctor.

I would attempt to read your hard drive in another computer. Make a backup too if you don't have a recent backup.

If you have a spare hard drive try recovering the system on that drive.

Hi Brad,

My T43P and my Wife T43P had that same issue as yours.
I did discover that what was blocking the Windows XP startup was the "Client Security Solution" to be more exact the tvtsched.exe.
On my Wife's Thinkpad I did managed to Stop the process and did an update of the "Client Security Solution".
And since them it works.
On my case I started by disable the Thinkpad Security Chip from the BIOS and once I did managed to get inside of the Windows XP system I did uninstall the "Client Security Solution" and reboot and after that I install the "Client Security Solution" again.
Since then no problems.
I hope that It will work for you as it did work for my and my Wife.

Cheers,

I really appreciate your response, but how do I even log into Windows, it is just not going thru, I have a feeling that its going to be the CSS crap but I can not get beyond it.

I was rather disappointed by the IBM support, who had nothing else to offer or even try short of restoring to factory settings.

Thanks again,

Chotta

No problem.

I have been called worse.

I would check the drive and run PC Doctor to check your hardware. Sounds like it is a hardware problem and not a software problem.

Hi Chotta !

Try to boat your Thinkpad in Safe mode.
When you see your Thinkpad IBM logo just press several times the F2 or F8 key and you will get an option called Safe mode or something like that and from there chose safe boot with no network and try to uninstall the software.

Good luck !!!

Reagards,

Antonio De Castro.
