FN+F3 Problems

Hey-
I've had my T42 2378-EXU since the beginning of august, and this problem has been there ever since. Whenever I use FN+F3 to turn my monitor off, it turns back on a few minutes later. Nothing pops up on the screen, etc. Any guesses?

do you have externals? something plucked in?
