Lagging
I'm getting a pretty annoying problem with my T43. If not on plugged in (also just on battery) it often starts to lag unbelievably. Although the CPU usage is not 100%, the laptpl becomes unusable. I have a tip that it is caused by the IBM access connection software but not sure, as the computer is really hard to control in this state.
Anyone ever experienced something similar?
Thanks in advance.

You need to review what is running with Task Manager to see what is going on.
Access Connections can take 30 seconds extra to startup but it does not cause a machine to run slow in normal use. There may be any number of things that have gone wrong, which I why I suggest using Task Manager to review processes.
Other possibilities:
1. Viruses and spyware.
2. The hard drive has gone into PIO mode (Use Device Manager to check the drive controller properties).

Yeah, I'm trying to use the Task manager (hard enough just to start it). But no idea which process could cause this since none is using that much of CPU and of course there are many I don't know. Hard to stop one since the lagging is pretty bad.
I don't think it could be a virus, since it's somehow related to the battery usage...

you might try having task manager (or process explorer) running and then unplug your machine. Maybe having it open (rather than trying to open it when the machine is in 'lag' mode) would let you see what's bogging you down? just a thought . . .

No, not likely at all. There is nothing wrong with that tool if it is installed properly and working. It has been running on my T41 for years now and never shows up at all, *unless* I move the machine. ...
