shaky wireless connection

im using the latest drivers for my a/b/g card and in access connections, the adapter speed jumps between 2(!) and 36mbps, which is weird as i have a netgear wg511 pcmcia card which is always at 54mbps.

i have a netgear dg834g router. how come its not connecting at 54mpbs!? :/

the a/b/g card power saving mode is set to low.

any suggestions?

flashed back to the 3.08 bios as thats the only thing that was changed recently and it seems to be holding a better connection.

before a "ping 192.168.0.1 -t" to my router had 40% packet loss, now its down to a more acceptable 8% loss.
