T40 Ultranav Touchpad will not tap.

#1 Post by Bucksnort101 » Fri Nov 09, 2007 5:13 pm

Unable to use the Tapping feature on a T40 laptop Touchpad. Touchpad controls the movement of the cursor, just cannot tap to select/activate items. The Touchpad configuration show the Touchpad as being Enabled, but when you go into Settings and then the Tap and Drag features show as being selected, but grayed out and I am unable to turn off or on.
Unit did work until unit was sent to a customer and they loaded other software, which I have un-installed. BIOS is current and has had the defaults set. Device manager shows no conflicts, have even reloaded the Ultranav Drivers with no change in operation. I have also created a new test Administrator account and lgged into it and it will work in that account. Using System Restore to go to the original installation also resolves the issue, but looses the customers additional add ons.
Virus scan showed a single Virus and Adware, but this has been resolved as well, unless some files were irrecoverable damaged?

Any suggestions on where to look for other configuration conflicts?

Do the following at your own risk, but this is how I would tackle it.

I believe you could search the registry for ultanav and export the appropriate keys from the good working account, and use those to fix the customer's account. Export the same keys from the customer's account and compare the difference. You could probably edit the paths in the good account to the customer account paths, then just run the reg file.
