DVD drive in Ultrabay Slim opens too easily

#1 Post by ffalcon2 » Tue Nov 13, 2007 1:42 pm

I've had my T42 for about two years.

Last month or so I've noticed that the opening mechanism for the DVD/CDRW drive in the ultrabay slim is too sensitive. It frequently opens when I didn't mean to press the button, or even sometimes when I don't believe I touched the button at all.

Any way to change the sensitivity, or even to disable the "open drive" button on the drive? I hardly ever use the disc drive, and I'd be happy to go through a few clicks to reactivate it every time I need to use it.

Thanks.

Hows about using the safely remove hardware icon to tell windows you are gonig to remove the drive, but don't actually remove it. When you do need to use it, slip it out and push it back in again. Sould work a treat.
Also if you still have warranty, I would try and get a new drive out of Lenovo.

FYI, I called lenovo support (Canada), and they're sending me a new drive on warranty, no questions asked.

Nice!

Another excellent experience.

This is what the ThinkPad hobby is all about.

I was referring to using your laptop as a hobby not just calling for support.

In the event that you do have to call Lenovo will do what they can to make sure you will be satisfied. Hopefully by continuing to make their customers happy they will continue to have customers.

I know that the times that I have had to call I have usually been happy that I use ThinkPads.

What was your question again?
