T30-2366 hangs @ signing after installing cisco wireless int

The t30 - 2366
hangs for about 3 minutes when I log on to my XP machine.
I figured it was that the machine is trying to access a wireless network - after a while it gives up and finishes loading all icons and the hour glass goes away

it was so anoying I went to the device manager and deactivated the card.
now it boots up as quick as before
I am using IBM access connections - and it does deactivate all other interfaces (i am plugged into an ethernet network) and it should not be trying to look for a wireless network
anyhave have any ideas or suggestions?
