The cursor will periodically recalibrate itself, resulting in a wandering across the screen. It's normal. I don't use the touchpad so I can't speak to the other issue!

Re: Wondering cursor...
if the cursor is wandering aimlessly it is wondering where to go next, is all..SimonCC wrote:does anyone else sometimes find that the navipad on the t42 loses responsiveness or that the cursor wonders in the wrong direction or any other strange schisms???
but if it wanders off independly after you have been resting your finger on the trackpoint then it is finding itself and will stop, soon..
touchpads are another matter entirely..
i never use'em so i can't help there..

I guess I use both 50/50. Especially when I have to move around stuff I rather use the Touchpad to drag around stuff, but when I have to move something very precisely, the Trackpoint is the tool of choice. The touchpad is just not good at the fine stuff. Try rolling the fingertip for very small movements, though...
Also when typing it's just easier because you don't have to move away the hands.
