T41p AC adapter

#1 Post by hox » Sat Nov 13, 2004 11:33 am

Hello,

I have been using a t41p for about a year now, after some initial problems solved by a restore from the CDs the notebook has taken everything I can throw at it. When I purchased this machine I ordered a spare AC adapter to keep in my travel bag. When I use this adapter which appears identical to the one that arrived with the notebook, it gets very hot, almost uncomfortably warm to touch. Is this just different electronics in this adapter vs the one that arrived with the lap top which gets only slightly warm? What is the consesus for others' adpaters? Send it back or much ado about nothing.

Cheers
Hox

check the part numbers or the FRU numbers..
if they are the same you might have a stressed out adapter.. :D
ibm should replace it..
they don't want those things running unusually hot..
uhmm, how hot does it get..??
too hot to touch..??
if so, then it NEEDS to go back for replacement..
no question at all..

then again, is it charging when it gets hot and if it IS and it is not too hot to touch, then it sounds like you are just using "it" differently when you feel the extra heat..
