T41P motherboard failure

#1 Post by carbon_unit » Fri Nov 23, 2007 5:42 pm

I have a T41P 2274-GGU that developed the dreaded loose GPU problem. The boards to replace it are insanely priced but I have found a FRU 39T5451 board for a decent price. Can I use this board? I realize it has a lesser GPU, I don't care. Will I need a different LCD cable?

The cable depends on your LCD, not the MB, so if you use your old LCD, it will work fine.

Is it possible you have a 2374-GGU?

Very possible!
Thanks for catching my typo. Too bad they didn't have keyboarding class when I was in school.

I assume you're aware that some people have had luck fixing this kind of thing by heating the board and "reflowing" the solder on the GPU... didn't you want to try that before going to another board?

Yeah, I intend to try that but I already bought a board for it. Maybe later when I have more time.
