Seeking advice on Cloning procedure...

#1 Post by agarza » Mon Nov 26, 2007 8:46 am

Hi, this is yet another thread on how to clone my primary partition.

I plan to make a bootable DVD image of my 7K100 C partition including Windows, Office, etc to fit on a DVD5

I've seen so many methods, but I'd like to know which method is the best to do what I intend to do.

I've a secondary HDD on my Ultrabay at this point with all my personal documents.
I've also an external E7K100 drive to transfer documents from one place to another.

And finally have an external DVD-+R drive which could serve me to burn the 4.36GB image to a blank DVD disk.

Which software is the easiest to use to accomplish it and with succesful rates?

If you want to keep your restore data, the process depends on whether you have an HPA (T40, T41, early T42) or recovery partition (later T42, T43)

I reread your original post and see you want to make a bootable DVD. I have no experience doing this, so you will need someone else's help.

Use Acronis. It's easy and good. Don't think it will make the DVd disk bootable but not a problem. The software will make a boot recovery disk then you load Acronis then pop in the DVd and do your restore.

Norton Ghost 12 claims to do what I want to do. I might check it out

I've used Ghost. Compared to Acronis it sucks. Just my opinion.
