T42 - Ethernet Issues (Intel PRO/1000 mobile connection)

#1 Post by lostinthewoods » Thu Dec 06, 2007 9:08 pm

I did some searching on here and google and have not found any information in regards to my issue.

I am having an issue with my ethernet jack, not wifi.
When I plug in the cat5 my connection just connects / disconnects like every 5 seconds.

The odd thing is this only happens on certain networks. I was out of town on business and was unable to connect in the hotel rooms. I went down stairs to the business center and it works. Also I am not having any luck connecting to home network either.
I was able to validate all the connections are functional.

I have downloaded two different drivers from the IBM/Lenovo site which are both INTEL PRO drivers. Neither of those seemed to work either.

Anyone know if any other drivers exist for this device ?

Anyone seem other similar issues?

Was that the driver you downloaded?

Try uninstalling the old drivers first, restart, then install the new drivers and restart, perhaps that may work?

Sorry, I need to read more carefully next time.

Since you say you can connect to certain networks, but not others, it is more than likely a network issue. It could be caused by IP/MAC address filtering, or the router may not be configured correctly.

Now when you say the drivers "don't work", should I assume you mean that it doesn't solve the inability to connect to certain networks, rather than the LAN adapter not recognized by the OS?

Also are you using the ThinkVantange Access Connections software?
