T42 LCd question

#1 Post by SlamX » Sat Dec 08, 2007 8:10 pm

I just got a pristeen perfect T42. Put in a DVD the other day to play and the DVD movie sort of blinked and stumbled, screen disorted, then started to play. I stopped to restart it and noticed 1 pixel on the screen has gone bad or is stuck. It looks like it is red in color.

I looked at IBM warranty and it says must have 7-8 dead pixels before free replacement.

I am wondering though with this inicdent is this perhaps a warning of more future problems with the screen?

I don't thank that a dead/hot pixel increases the chance of more.

Not necessarily. I have a T20 at work that has had one dead pixel for the last three and half years, and have seen numerous other ThinkPads which have had one, two or three dead pixels for years without the screen condition deteriorating any further.

Enjoy your new machine and try not to pay too much attention to a small imperfection like that...
