T43p USB issue

I've read all the different things that seem to occur from the system board flexure issue and haven't yet found something as specific as my case, so here we go...

- the UltraNav occasionally cuts out when the machine isn't on a solid surface and I press on the region to the right of the bottom portion of the touchpad.
- the USB ports work about half the time when its not on a solid surface.

I'm not terribly worried about the UltraNav issue since my hand placement usually doesn't hit that particular spot. The thumb drive issue is my main concern.

Right now, the machine is sitting on a table and I have a USB mouse plugged in and it has been working all morning. I plugged in my USB memory stick, a SanDisk Cruzer Titanium 1GB, and no dice. I even tried switching the ports. Mouse works, no thumb drive. Seems to me there's a problem with the driver for removable media.

Thoughts?

I think that there is a hardware problem with your USB ports. The Cruzer works in another computer probably, right?

I would call Lenovo and let them know the trouble you are having. They will most likey replace the motherboard.

I also would remove the ThinkPad's serial number from your signature. That is way more information than everyone here needs.

I would think there's a problem, too, but the mouse works on both ports without hesitation.

I bought this machine used off Craigslist. Will Lenovo still replace the mobo?
