Should I buy a Refurbished T22 or a new R40e ?

#1 Post by mitch » Tue Nov 16, 2004 7:04 pm

I can't afford anything expensive but I am considering buying a laptop to run XP pro and Office 2003,Corel draw, Paintshop pro progs, and surf net on broadband.
While the T22 is a PIII 900 mhz and the R40e is a Celeron 2.0 Ghz which one is the better performer?
I am in the Uk and the refurbished 'A' conditon T22 is about £410 with 3 month warrenty and the R40e is about £500 NEW.

Any response would be very much appreciated.

Mitch.

mitch, im not sure about the r40 but i can tell you that the t22 is perfect what you describe your needs to be. You can pick them up on ebay with 384mb ram and around 30gb hd for around £380, the build quality is excellant and its decently proportioned (think, quite a small footprint). I would focus on ram size and hd space more than cpu speed especially with programs like photoshop which are memory intensive, you will not feel the faster cpu the r40 has to offer. Hope this helps!
T42 Dothan 725 1.6ghz, 1gb ram, 40gb hd, 7500 32 mb ATI Mobility.
