Screen Clothes

#1 Post by jhrain » Tue Nov 16, 2004 8:00 pm

A couple of months ago, someone posted a site where you could purchase large (cut to fit) cleaning clothes for their ThinkPads.

I travel a great deal, and even with they Titanium/Magnesium composite cover, I have noticed that my screen (when powered off) shows me that the trackpoint and some keys are rubbing.

While at the Airport, the person sitting next to me had a cloth that he laid over the keyboard of his new T42 (for this exact reason). He did not remember where his assistant ordered it. It fit the dimentions of his keyboard perfectly. He leaves it in the laptop at all times.

I've Googled, and am only finding stupid wet cleaning pads or small jewelry polishing cloths.

Thanks!

Would the screen really get scratched?

I see markings on the screen from the trackpoint, but they have always been able to be cleaned off.

My question is, do you think that overtime, there will be permanent etches on the LCD?

I guess you can always take a 8 x 11 piece of plain copy paper and put it over your keyboard!

I use a black one from this site. I like it a lot. The material is great for cleaning the screen.

Fits my 14" T42 great.

Exact same one here. Get the 14" standard (4:3 ratio). ~$18 shipped. The other you are talking about may be ShaggyMac. Forget the custom cutting, Radtech fits perfectly.

Another vote here for the Radtech Screensaverz. Love mine, in 14", and I have the 15" T42p.

Uhmmm... are your sure you really want to pay $18 for a Radtech cloth?
Why don't you go to the next store and get a simple microfibre cloth for a few bucks and cut it to size?

Same material... and it is used for cleaning glasses anyway.

I really honestly don't believe in ridiculous prices for simple material, just because it has a name printed on it.
