Wired Ethernet keeps disabling itself

#1 Post by Andy M » Mon Dec 17, 2007 10:52 am

My Intel Pro 1000 wired connection keeps disabling itself, its doing this on a fresh install of XP SP2 after all drivers and updates are on, ive tried a format and reinstall and its doing it again, only way I can get it to work is to uninstall the drivers and then reinstall, and it works until i reboot the laptop.

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem and the cable turned out to be the culprit. Find a different cable to see if the problem goes away.

OK update here, actually connecting a cable whilst it is disabled results in it undisabling and a connection being made.

So maybe theres an updated driver which auto disables it or something, cause it always used to show up in the right end of the taskbar with a red cross when a LAN cable wasn't connected!
