Half-Life 2 on a T42p?

#1 Post by LinuxGuy75 » Thu Nov 18, 2004 1:49 am

I have a 2.0Ghz T42p 14.1" 1400x1050 with the ATI T2.

Anyone tried Half-Life 2 on such a system? How does it work?

Are the stock IBM ATI drivers enough, or should DNA or Omega drivers be used?

I installed HL 2 on tuesday. So far, it runs excellent with the dna drivers. I didn't try it with the ibms, though. The game is really sweet looking in 1600 x 1200!!!

Wow. I didn't think it would play on a 2378-FVU which is what I have... Maybe I need to buy this game...

From you guys' input, it looks like my T41p has hopes to run HL2 just fine? 1.7GHz, FireGL T2 128 and 512 MB RAM?

Runs quite nicely on my T42... specs are:

1.7 Ghz Donathon
512 MB DDR Ram
mobility 9600

it would probably run nicer if i updated the drivers... didn't even have time since the machine just got picked up like a day ago and my cousin wanted to play it ASAP... so running on stock everything

resolution is:

1400X1050

in-game settings: everything to default (except for VSYNC)

he said that it was running quite well.. sometimes got a little slow so i guess... new drivers + scaling back the resolution a bit will fix that no problem

Cheers,
Matthew

T42P, 1.7 ghz, 512 mb ram, 64mb 9600 radeon, etc etc. Running Half Life 2 with max settings at 1240 x 960(ish). Runs great indoors, a little stuttery outdoors, but definately playable and beautiful. Oh, getting the new Catalyst beta drivers helps a lot.

Yep, it seems to be just OK with 1400x1050 for in-game resolution with radeon 9600, I wouldn't say it's gorgeous, but playable.

haven't noticed anything abnormal. What exactly is "ghosting?" If it is like it sounds, false images, then I definately haven't experienced any.
