left-hand side of my touch pad buttons does NOT work

#1 Post by ora410 » Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:19 pm

Hello

Anyone knows what's wrong with my left-hand side of touch pad buttons. Right-hand side button is still working fine!

BTW, tough pad screen still works too.

ThinkPad T42, XP PRO SP2 installed, UltraNav is set to default.

Thanks in advance!

The buttons have mechanical switches that can break or wear out. When the left button breaks, I remove the touchpad. Ithe touchpad itself can be removed by unscrewing from below. (If I remember right, it is 4 screws) I try to blow out the junk around the buttons, but usually, I just have to replace the palmrest, unless I have a cracked palmrest around with a good touchpad. (the touchpad and butons are a unit)

If the thinkpad is still under warranty, you should be able to call Lenovo technical support to send you a new palmrest.
