T40 lockup issue

I have a T40 2374. The machine fails after running for several minutes or hours. The cursor locks up and the machine becomes unresponsive. I have to hold the power button to power off. If I try to power back up, I get only black screen, no beeps, nothing but a green power indicator LED, and a power check at the CD Drive. Once this happens, I have to wait several hours before it will boot again. I have tested the memory, replaced the mother board, and processor. None of these have addressed the issue. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you think it could be a cooling issue? Maybe the GPU? Load up Notebook Hardware Control and try to record the CPU and GPU temps during each crash.

I've tried a new power supply, but this didn't help. I also tried removing the battery, this didn't help, either.

Sounds like the typical T4x bad system board to me.

Thanks for your advice, but it won't boot at all anymore. Just black an LED flash.

I got one for my parents, too, and that one now won't boot. I get only to the IBM splash screen. Can't even boot to the CD. I'm assuming it's the mother board. Time to cut the losses.
