T-40 keeps falling back into "standby" mode

#1 Post by Jim Mc » Fri Dec 21, 2007 1:32 pm

I have a t-40, running win2k. I have it set to go to standby on closing the lid. This it does, but, when I open the lid, it recovers, and then after a few seconds, it sets itself back in to standby.
I have the power settings set to do nothing while on electricity, and to cycle the machine down in 5 minute increments while on battery. The advanced is set to set the machine to standby when the lid is closed. This one has me baffled and bewildered. Any suggestions?
Please, don'r suggest a new OS, I get that every day, and it's not an option....

I don't have an answer, but I can add something. I have a T42p (XP pro) that is set to hibernate when the lid is closed, but never do anything automatically if it is plugged in. Since I updated to the newest BIOS, if I resume from hibernation and don't do anything for a few minutes (I have not timed it, but maybe 5 minutes of no activity) it hibernates. If I hit a key, any key, as soon as it comes up, the problem does not occur. Whei I was younger, I would have spent endless hours geting timings and trying to figure out exactly what was wrong. Now, I just hit a key after it comes up and not worry about it.
