Takin' The Plunge

#1 Post by mr_lucky » Fri May 28, 2004 5:15 pm

Well, I've resisted for as long as I can. I finally got a fresh copy of Win XP Pro and am all set to update my T23. I've got all updates installed, and I've ghosted my current config. Any tips or things to watch out for? TIA.

Be sure to look both ways before crossing the road? I can't think of anything else, but I do have a question - if you're doing a clean install, how come you've already done the updates?

Doh! Forgot to mention it's an upgrade, not a clean install.

Let us know how it works out - I'm thinking about doing the same.

Upgrades are ALWAYS trouble. I'd download the IBM drivers, then back up your data and WIPE THE HARD DISK. Do a clean install, or nothing at all.

What Asiafish said, in spades!

Never do an OS upgrade unless there is absolutely no other choice available.

Always do clean install. Bill hasn't engineered a good upgrade process yet. You'll likely have trouble down the road that way. It only takes a few more minutes for clean install. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
