Powering on problem

Whats the correct way to power on? Hold power button or just tap it once?

Get loads of problems if my thinkpad is powered off getting it back on. Usually take 5 mins of randomly hitting the power button before it finally works....

Yeah, I find that the button needs to be held down for a split second longer than I'd expect. Kind of a long tap.
