Check Hard Disk rotational speed?

#1 Post by poonsmjj » Fri Nov 19, 2004 12:49 am

Hi, I was just wondering how to check whether the HD in my T42 is running at the same speed as was advertised on the flyer when I bought it. Is there any way to check (software preferrably unless opening up the case is simple)?

Thanks,
Matthew

The way I checked was to take out the hard drive which is very easy(takes a minute to do) and copy down the model number and the manufacturer and go to the manufacturer's website and go to the support section if it is an older model; but with a T42 it should be in the products section and just go to the model and it will give all the details on it: rpm, cache, failure per 100K, warranty, etc...

So hard drives also give the rpm rating on the drive itself.

Absolutely superfluous to remove the drive as it shows up in the Windows device manager (and on boot-up, after the graphic screen has been disabled) with its model number.

Yes.
