Did you get this number off the the sticker on the bottom of the machine, or in BIOS? Compare the (2) numbers, are they the same?

There is something VERY wrong with that serial number...anything made for/sold in USA & Canada has "U" as the last symbol, while the rest of the world has "G", unless it's a CTO model....

Nothing that starts off 2573 is a T43 model number. Unless I'm mistaken, 2573 isn't a valid start for any thinkpad model.

Tx, all

number is from sticker, whish looks like factory made with bar code,
just asked the giver and she said that it might be purchased in Germany(EC). There is a though that some product # coudl be messed between t4* lines and during IBM-->Lenovo migration.

Will check BIOS later, don't have it handy now.

WIll one from BIOS be the right product #, I think you still can modify this..

what is CTO ????

I am guessing that you read it wrong and it's something like 2373-3VU. (a T42)

CTO = Configure-To-Order. We're hoping the BIOS number is different because the first numbers given are invalid on the Lenovo site.

You bet, Harrys

It's T43 and it's 1871-WCV, same in bios and sticker, I just messed with my current T42.

sorry for this quizz,
I think I'll put it on sale, don't need 3, I still quite happy with my T20
for home use, this T42 is a gift condition, all like new.

what it can cost this day, around 500?

Product: ThinkPad T43 1871-WCV [change]
Operating system: All [change]

Original description: Based on 1871-CTO: P M 750(1.86GHz), 1GB RAM, 40GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel 900, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

$500's probably reasonable if it's got some warranty remaining. Being integrated graphics and a pretty standard sort of spec level means you wouldn't be able to push for a greater asking price. My 2 cents...
