Variuos T40 upgrade ponderings
Hi all!
A friend of mine's T41p (14") planar died, so he offered to give me a few parts. All I could think of that I wanted from his was the long fan, the LCD, and the bt/modem card.
I'm pretty sure I'm right on this, but I wanted to clarify:
The LCD is a 1400x1050 (SXGA+?) with the hinges/antennas/etc, this should be a straight swap in, right? I'm pretty sure the long fan and bt/modem card should be straight swaps, but can anyone confirm that? I have the T4x manual here, and this looks pretty easy compared to powerbooks.

AS long as you use the cable and BT antenna with the SXGA LCD, it should be straightforward. Pay attention to how the modem cable, wireless antenna and bluetooth antenna are strung thru the cable guide. The first time you run them, they look like they are never going to look right. I wouldn't suggest moving the long fan. With your existing graphics chip, you really don't need it and it saves reseating the fan, removing and replacing thermal grease, etc.

I made a note of the cable routing from the repair guide, that looks like it will be very interesting to do.
As for the long fan thing, I do heavy gaming and graphics work a lot, so any kind of added cooling would be nice. Plus, who doesn't want an extra backup hs/f?

Yup, that sounds like it's the trickiest part. I don't have a BT/modem card now (just a modem card) so I don't have anything to use for reference of the BT antenna line, but I'm not worried
