Need help on a T43p

#1 Post by legendaryexsoldier » Fri Dec 28, 2007 5:49 pm

Well...I've had the t43p 2668-G1U with an added 1 gb ram...It was running great and even runs World of Warcraft...

Well, recently, I accidentally dropped it yesterday and lost the door for the PC Card Slot...

Now it's also drastically increased in CPU temperature from my NHC controls. At various moments the temperature monitor from NHC soars to 98-100 degrees...Even watching a video or surfing the web makes the CPU temp hit +80...

So...I was wondering what I should do...I'm not sure about how to deal with the problem at hand...

It almost sounds like your heatsink/cpu fan may not be contacting the cpu now. You may want to remove the keyboard and take a look underneath at the heatsink. Check that the screws are all tight. If that's not the problem, then there is probably something else going on......

It seems like something has moved inside, and then some.

I would start with downloading the manual and taking the machine apart. Chances are, you will see what moved/bent/whatever and is giving you grief.

T43p of any sort is a hot machine to begin with, and by letting it run under temperatures that you're describing is a recipe for disaster.

Is there any (hot) air coming out of the fan exhaust?

It almost sounds like the fan is not working. 100 degrees is nearly outside of the maximum operating temperature. The bottom left must feel awful HOT to the touch.
