I want to change my T42 SXGA+(14inch) LCD screen.
I want to change my T42 SXGA+(14inch) LCD screen.
I've used my T42 SXGA+ for 3 years. It worked very well with my tough usage.
The only thing I did'n't like about it was poor quality LCD. It has poor acceptable brightness, contrast.
And the worst thing is its viewing angle due to TN panel.
I want to change my T42's sxga+ LCD. Is there any 14inch IPS(or similar) LCD that meets the specification of my T42?
I want to make my eyes more happy.
Plus. I heard that t60p sxga+ panel can be swappable with my T42 sxga+ panel. If true, is it a better panel than mine?

It depends on the manufacturer of the panel. There are 3 SXGA+ LCD suppliers on T4/6 series: BOE-Hydis, Samsung and TMD. I've seen them all and the Hydis panel is my favorite. It's just a personal preference. I find the Samsung panel too bright and the TMD panel has too much light leakage (could be the particular unit).I heard that t60p sxga+ panel can be swappable with my T42 sxga+ panel. To make your eyes happy, maybe you should consider to purchase an external monitor. Some NEC (or Dell) monitors are better than Flexview LCDs.

My current T41p has an IDTech SXGA, which is great. I prefered it to Samsung, because most Samsungs from 3 yrs ago used 7800-8000k CCFL lamps which always give a blueish white.ulrich.von.lich wrote:It depends on the manufacturer of the panel. Actually, I would try to get one of the new Samsungs, which have up to 350:1 contrast (!!) and 7400k (neutral white).
You can also put in a UXGA screen. (www.nb51.com)
With reference to 14.1inch LCD service parts - ThinkPad T40/p, T41/p, T42/p the genuine IBM 14.1" SXGA+ panels for T42's are available from ID TECH (FRU= 11P8346) and Samsung (FRU=11P8348). More information about where to (potentially) get these LCD's (cheap!) can be found in today's thread: Pimp my T41p (see the post of Sat Jan 05, 2008 12:25 pm).beeblebrox wrote:My current T41p has an IDTech SXGA, which is great.
