T43 issue

#1 Post by Raycer » Sat Jan 05, 2008 11:16 pm

I have a T43 not sure of the model because Im not at home. My issue is this.

I cant seem to run any games or any kind of graphic load on it without the screen going blank. I mean sometimes even youtube goes blank on me. I get anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour and the poof no screen. When it does this I have to restart. Nothing shows up in the event log. Lenovo is no help. My system is under warranty but Lenovo wont take it back with the 1 gig ram stick I installed. So I have to put the old 512 stick back in. Yes it did this before I put the 1 gig stick in. I thought I was having a ram issue. Every now and then I get a BCD that says something about ATI. the system has the X300 card on it. Should I send it in? or is this something I can fix myself.

Run the PC Doctor tests on your video card and see if it reports any problems.

It does sound like the X300 card may be in the early throes of death, so you will likely need to send it in for repair.

Well after another long talk with IBM, its going to be shipped back to them in the next day or two, just gotta wait for the box to show up. The guy said they more than likely will be putting a new mainboard in.

Okay This was just too weird. My T43 was picked up by DHL on Tuesday Jan 8th. I figured it would be gone for about a week or so. I get home from work today and there a box for me with my T43 in it. Talk about your turn around time. According to the paper work, it looks like the replaced the Planar Card? I assume thats the system board. From what I can tell the had my T43 less than 24 hours. I have tested it at my end and so far its fixed, no black screens

Jeez, and I spent all that extra money for on-site repair service under a 3-year extended warranty?

Heckuva deal on the turnaround. Be sure to let them know how pleased you were with the prompt service. They need the positive feedback.
