I use a T43p for work, docked in a Port Replicator II when in the office, and in “notebook mode” while traveling. When in the dock, I use the Lenovo USB keyboard with integrated fingerprint reader. One of the annoyances is dealing with the NumLock. It is easy to forget to change the mode when going from docked to mobile use.
The BIOS has a setting under the Keyboard section that controls the power on numlock state. One option is AUTO, which the description says changes the state automatically when an external keyboard is attached. Even though I use this setting, it does not seem to work. Does anyone know if this only works with PS2 keyboards, and not USB versions?
