T40 USB Problem

My system does not recognize the USB2 devices. It only recognizes the devices as USB. Devices work but not at fast as they could. I have reloaded the XP OS, remove the devices via device manager and reloaded them. Any comments would be appreciated.

Are your devices connected to your system via a USB1.1 hub?

Everything is connected internally. I assume it is USB 2.0 since that is what the specs state. Where are you going with your question.

What kind of device? Is it drawing power from the port or its own power supply?

I had the same problem with my T40 in 2006. Fortunately, it was still under warranty, so I took it to the dealer, and they ended up replacing the motherboard. I suspect that you will either have to replace your motherboard, or learn to live with USB 1.1.

If your USB2.0 device's are connected to a USB1.1 hub - the USB2.0 devices will assume the USB1.1 speed.
