S24EvMon.exe Eating 95% of CPU - T41p

That is the gist of it, IIRC. I get an error regarding this process on startup, then I think it runs ok till I start a video. First one runs OK, then the second one stutters. I taskman - find the S24EvMon process eating all the CPU it can get. Can't kill the process (have no debug option) or its associated processes. Can't do much but reboot.

I think this has to do with the Intel wireless software. I have uninstalled and reinstalled through the IBM package tool. No joy, though of course I may have erred. I did fix a bad BattMon install this way, but in this case, not so much.

Ideas? Hate to roll back the system or rebuild bare metal if it can be avoided.
