Hi,
I have just fitted a replacement system board and now want to use the Hardware Maintenance Diskette to set the System-unit serial number and the UUID because they are both blank on the new board.
I've got the serial number on the back sticker, as the machine has been with me since new. But, for the UUID I need some advice.
I found something here:
http://guide.it168.com/files/7562/7562004003003.asp
after entering 'uuid diskette 1.69' into Google which indicates a new uuid is created with the program, but is this true. Can anyone tell me please?
The hardware maitenance manual tells you exactly what to do. Looked at the instructions and they look right. Just make sure you get the serial number right.
Good luck
Hey MadeInJapan, thanks for that.
Now that I have found and read that section in the HMM I can see it is exactly the same as my find on Google - so I should have read all the HMM in the first place,
Thanks again, and here goes ...
