Client Security Software

I bought a T42 2378 FVU. I double clicked "ThinkVantage Technology" button and found "Client Security Software" button is greyed out. I wonder I did not have preinstalled client security software.

Here are two questions:

1) Does Security Chip 2.0 won't work without client security software?
2) I follow the link to try to download one and found there is only fingerprint software available but my T42 does not have a fingerprint scanner.

I wonder anyone knows about Client Security software other than fingerprint software. Thanks.

I wondered the same thing. Then I discovered that IBM has recently released a new version (v5.4) of the Client Security Software. I'm running it and have to say it is more stable and a little faster than the previous version.

If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say IBM would prefer its users to download the most recent version. We're talking about Security and Encryption capability, so having the most recent version of the software makes sense.

This is just my opinion and thoughts.

I am agree with you on the second post...the previous version of CSS required, it seemed like, 5 seaprate downloads and the installation process was extremely lengthy and confusing. The new version installed much much smoother.
