Recovery console?

#1 Post by Guest » Mon Nov 22, 2004 10:35 pm

I got a new T42. It has SP1. Before I install SP2, I want to install the recovery console. So I insert my Windows XP retail disk into the drive and using the proper command, it begins to install the RC. Then it burps and appears to close but then restarts and completes. After, I am able to boot to the RC but I can't get in. My password is not recognized and even hitting Enter doesn't work. I have even tried disabling my password - still no go. I have installed and uninstalled 3 times and this happens every time. Any fix? TIA.

Some OEM versions of Windows have a bug.

Boot in safe mode and log in as Administrator (not any other administrator accounts you may have created). Remove the password for Administrator, then re-boot to the RC. You should now be able to login with no password.
