Question about T42 motherboard

I have a chance to buy a T42 with a bad motherboard. It's the 15in model. Now my question is, do I have to get a mobo from another 15in T4x machine or will any mobo do? Also, do all T4x motherboards support SXGA+ on these systems?

the 14 and 15 inch motherboards are same, except there is an additional interposer card in the 15 inch so that the cd drive reaches the edge.

That said, you should be fine. Sxga resolutions , anything above radeon 7500 should support it. However most of the t42's with sxga always came with 9600, even the t40's also come with radeon 9000 atleast. Can give it a try and check it out, it might be ok.

I have an SXGA on my 7500. There are two video cables though, one for XGA and one for SXGA.

How about SXGA+? Will it run 1440x1080?

SXGA+ is 1400x1050

If we're talking about internal monitor here (LCD), how do you expect it to run above its maximum resolution?

I believe aaa meant SXGA+ (1400*1050). Yes, it will work fine with the 7500, but you'll need a different cable if you upgrade from XGA.

Alright, that answers my question. Now if only I could get a cheap T4x mobo somewhere.

Never seen a truer statement

Another thing is that a "bad motherboard" in this case probably means flexing aka problems with the GPU chip, which with luck can be (at least temporarily) fixed. I'm still looking for someone who has had their T4x board treated at FirstPhase Technologies...
