ON SCREEN DISPLAY won't show - running VISTA

hey fellow thinkpad owners. i'm new to this forum but i've been here a few times and have found the responses to be quite helpful.

but alright, now to the problem. (btw, i own a t43)
so i'm running VISTA right now. it's not without its quirks, but i've been fine with it. recently, i had to address the problem of not being able to use the FN-F5 keys to turn wireless on/off. but i was able to find a solution to that by installing the latest hotkey driver (at least, i THINK that's what fixed it) so ever since that started working, my on screen displays ceased to stop showing up. you know, the markers that appear at the bottom of the screen that show volume, screen brightness, and some other stuff.

does anyone know how to fixe this??? i know it's a small thing. but it's the small things that annoy me the most!

hmm...i haven't tried that, but i will once i get home. hopefully it will work! i was on the lenovo site feverishly looking for the a fix, but i guess i didn't quite know what to look for.
