T40>T43 conversion - bluetooth&wlan cards not compat

First of all, I'm new here and I find this forum interesting since I am long time tp fan and owned and still own several of these fine machines and am curently writing this text on T23 with T20 keyboard (imo best laptop keyboard ever)
well hello to everybody

now to the problem;

I owned T40 that I borrowed to my good friend, and he somehow managed to lock the svp password without even knowing that he did it. He than felt bad about it and gave it to somebody that suposedly knew what he was doing, but obviously he didn't and corrupted the eeprom on the mainboard so the t40 mainboard became completely useless.


Since the machine itself was and still is in mint condition, I decided to go for a new mainboard and was searching for one on ebay. I than came across T43 mainboard on ebay that also had SVP locked, and because of that was super cheap, so I did my research and find out that the shell of all 14" T4X machines is identical. Than I had to buy an extra processor so I got myself pentium M 1.86 and some 533 mhz ram to go with it and put everything in T40 machine.

I than unlocked the SVP lock with the help of Joe from Australia, and now machine itself is working great, quite a lot faster than with old setup.

The problem that I have now is that bluetooth and wireless cards fit on the 43 mainboard fine, but both display error codes that they are not supported by the system.

The question that I am interested in is: does anybody here know how to work arround this problem, since I don't want to buy new cards because of the stupid lock and besides these two cards worked fine when they were in T40..

I found some solutions on the net but I don't want to screw up the bios on my computer. So is there any way to alter cards and not the computer's bios?

First of all, welcome to the forum!

I imagine that you're getting the "1802" error for the wireless card, but have no clue what you're getting for the bluetooth, so please post the error message so someone could possibly give you a hand. BTW, I doubt that you'll find a workaround BT without actually replacing the card. They are way too different between T40 and T43, but I might be wrong.

What wireless card are you using?
