Canadians with US Machines & Extended Warranty

Hello Forum

I live in Canada and have a US sourced T41 2373-9FU with a 3 year international warranty that is honoured by IBM Canada. IBM USA has their extended warranties on sale and I would like to upgrade, but an IBM USA rep who consulted with their "warranty specialist" tells me that the warranty extensions are only good in the USA.

The warranty extensions sold on the Canadian site are only applicable to Thinkpads purchased in Canada.

Therefore unless I move to the US (it snowed here yesterday!) I don't seem to have any options.

Have any other Canadians out there found a solution to this?

I have a US t42 as well, with 3 year warranty

i think id be interested in the extended warranty (that covers accidental damage) as well
let me knwo how it goes

I was also told today that the warranty extensions on the US model, 2378FVU, are only valid in the US!! Is the only option left to keep shipping it back and forth across the border if the machine breaks and needs to be sent to depot?

Is the 1 year international warranty enough? I really would like the 3 year, but I don't see anyway around this situation, as there is no other model that I want that comes standard with a 3 year warranty.

This is news to me. So, the 5 year warranty on my machine (which was 3 yrs. + 2 yrs.extension bought at time of purchase) is International for the first 3 years, and "National"after that?
