Is this machine definitly a flexview?

#1 Post by Padhead » Sun Jan 20, 2008 9:43 pm

Hello folks, Is this machine definitly a flexview? My impression is that all of the T43 15.0 inch SXGA and UXGA screens are Flexview, but I have never been sure on exactly how all that works.

T43 type:2668 model:89u

Original description: P M 750, 512MB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HDD, 15 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X300, 24x24x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD, Intel 802.11a/b/g wireless(MPCI), Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, Fingerprint Reader, 6 cell Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro

Thanks again.

My understanding is that all 15" SXGA+ and UXGA screens in a T43 are Flexview from the factory. This is based upon the specifications from the tabook.pdf. If you can get the serial number, plug it into here:

Parts Lookup

and that might help identify the panel that's in the system.

That should be a FlexView LCD, and you really should remove the serial # from the post...

It is FlexView - see the page 70 ltwbook entitled: "Personal Systems Reference, Lenovo ThinkPad Notebooks, 2005 to present - withdrawn (December 2007 - Version 332)".

If you need to find detailed information about other oldere ThinkPad's see the thread T4X specs - then you know where to look!

Someone could claim it as a stolen machine.

Not to mention the fact that they could call for replacement parts, never send back the supposedly defective ones, and have the machine blacklisted by IBM/Lenovo.

Sounds like a great plan! 8)

I deleted the SN earlier today.

When you take over someone's warranty do you have to re-register it to be covered the warranty? I took over the warranty on a T41 a couple years ago, but I dont recall having to do anything special. And I did have a couple warranty claims on it including a new motherboard and multi burner.

ThinkPad warranties are indexed to the machine, not the owner.

So what happens if you buy a stolen one? Not that any of mine are stolen, I hope. Oh snap!

Just joking. :D
