If you're using Access Connections, try uninstalling it and just let Windows handle with wifi connections.

I have the exact same problem...

I have a 4 year old T40 with an Intel Pro Wireless Lan 2100 3b Mini PCI adapter and a 4 year old 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless 54Mbps 11g Cable/DSL router.

I have had no problems with either my T40 og the router before. The problem started 2-4 months ago (at least I haven't noticed it before) and has worsened since. 2 weeks ago I practically couldn't connect to my wireless router.

I experience different problems:
1. My T40 can find my router (and all my neighbours' routers) and can connect. After a few minutes my T40 loses connection for half a second and then connects again.
2. My T40 can find my router (and all my neighbours' routers) but it can't connect.
3. Sometimes the wireless radio in my T40 turns after connecting/disconnecting for a while.

I have tried upgrading to the latest driver for the wireless lan 2100 3B mini pci adapter and the latest Access Connections without luck. After that I uninstalled Access Connections, but that didn't help. Third I re-installed my T40 to the factory settings (didn't solve the problem). Finally I uninstalled Access Connections (were included in the original setup) but the problem remains.

I have used the same T40 and the same router for 4 years and have never had problems before.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

Thanks - Mads

My wife complains about this often with her T43. All other machines in the house connect to the same router. None experience this periodic connect/disconnect routine. She was somewhat annoyed and vocal about it just yesterday :o
