T41 accessing DVD drive for no reason
T41 accessing DVD drive for no reason
My T41 has this slightly irritating habit of accessing the empty DVD-ROM every 5 minutes or so. I hear it spin up slightly and the system does a 'hiccup' and any clicks or typing is frozen for half a second. Anyone know what setting I need to make to stop this? The dvd is set to 'Normal' operations mode in the BIOS.
Try removing the drive to see if you get an error message. I'm guessing it's an app that's trying to access your optical drive, but without further details about your OS and installed software it's difficult to say. If you're running Windows XP, look in the event viewer for anything that might indicate what's happening.
