Buying a new T42 Questions
Buying a new T42 Questions
Greetings All!
I am considering buying a new T42 to replace my aging Gateway Solo.
I have a few questions that hopefully some of you could help me with.
First, regarding the touch pad....are you able to set it up so that you can scroll a page with it? On my Gateway's synaptics touch pad, I can set it so that if I move my finger in a downwards motion the document, web page, etc... will scroll down.
Second, I'm considering the 14.1" SXGA screen that does the 1400x1050 resolution. How crisp is this? I've heard that it's not so crisp at the 1024x768 resolution? Currently, I'm leaning towards the 14.1" XGA screen (native 1024x768). I'm mostly concerned about the crispness of the fonts and the readability.
Finally, how is the battery life? I'm looking at either the 2378FVU (1400x1050) or the 2378FTU (1024x768). I'm assuming that the FTU will be slightly more conservative power wise?
My ultimate goal here, is a laptop that I can work about 6 hours with the 802.11b wireless on.
Thanks in advance!
Warren

1. Yes all glide point mice are able to do that. Add'l with the UltraNav you have a button in the middle that's lets you do that and more.
2. It's beautiful and crisp, at least for me on my t40.
3. On the 9 cell you'll have no problem, plus if you get the add'l ultra bay battery thing you'll have all day computing.

Re: Buying a new T42 Questions
The 1400*1050 displays are absolutely crisp at their native resolution AND you should alwas use them at this resolution. As you use a 1024*768 at THAT resolution and not at 800*600 or something worse.warreng24 wrote:[...]

It's ok at that size. I have to wear glasses to drive etc.... but the 1400*1050 resolution on a 14.1" is ok - not too tiny and good to read.
