I have a PC-TRAC trackball from Microspeed Inc. that has a PS/2 connecter. I'd like to get it working on my mother's T42 as she is having a terrible time using the mouse. This is her inaugural flight on the World Wide Web and her aging hands are making it very difficult. She'd prefer I didn't rush out and buy a new trackball if this one will work.
I plugged in a USB-to-PS/2 keyboard/mouse splitter cable into my T60 and it gets recognized immediately, but when I attach the PC-TRAC, nothing. I even tried disabling the Trackpoint and TouchPad. Do I need to install a generic mouse driver of sorts? Could this be a "serial" mouse?
I also read that there is a "passive" and "active" USB-to-PS/2 connector, and that I may need the "active" version. Any pointers or tips would be greatly appreciated. I have till march 31st to convince my mother she can do this Internet thing and enjoy it too! (or the Thinkpad goes!!!)
